About

Amanda Lynch Stories

In her 29 years as a speech-language pathologist, Amanda has served children from birth through high school in various settings. A proud graduate of Northern Michigan University (BS) and the University of Wisconsin – Madison (MS), Amanda integrates clinical expertise and compassion into her work with students, peers, and graduate clinicians. Amanda has extensive experience working with students with emotional disabilities. Her work is grounded in the belief that behavior is a form of communication and every child deserves a voice. She believes that students’ behaviors often stem from circumstances beyond their control, such as trauma, health conditions, and systemic injustices. In response, educators need to recognize the source of the behaviors and respond to children with empathy and compassion. Outside of her professional life, Amanda enjoys knitting, hiking, and recharging on the shores of Lake Superior. She lives in northern Illinois with her husband and is the proud mother of three adult daughters and a dog-mom to a mischievous schnoodle named Winnie.

Here’s a look at what inspires me: My family, the Ore Dock in the Lower Harbor of Marquette, MI, fun behind the scenes with Gerry Brooks before a presentation with my daughter Nora, sunrises on Lake Superior, Winnie (our schnoodle) as we visit Northern Michigan University.
